The SSRN Community continued its growth over the past six months. Downloads exceeded 1,000,000 per month bringing our cumulative full-text downloads since inception to 67 million. Our download counts do not include bots and other crawlers, which would double the numbers. SSRN maintained it’s ranking as the #1 web repository in the world and, more importantly, continued to play an important role in the distribution and creation of scholarly research.
The SSRN eLibrary currently has 490,000 paper abstracts from 229,000 authors and received 70,000 new full-text submissions in the past year. SSRN released three new sponsored networks in the past year and they already have over 30,000 full-text papers. The networks are Sustainability (sponsored by GSE Research), Innovation (sponsored by ITX Corp.), and Anthropology (with support from the American Anthropological Association).
We have extracted 8.5 million references and 8.6 million footnotes, and matched 5.8 million citations from our 400,000 full text papers. The new References from Footnotes technology has extracted 213,000 references and they will begin appearing on SSRN abstract pages later this year.
Our mid-year distribution break is scheduled for Monday, 24 June 2013 through Sunday, 7 July 2013. During the break, SSRN’s abstracting eJournals will not be distributed so that we can expand the capacity and improve the performance of our servers. We will continue to provide support for downloads, submissions, and subscriptions but there will be periods of time during the break when the site is unavailable.
For any requests during the break, please contact customer support at UserSupport@SSRN.com or call toll free 877-SSRNHelp (877-777-6435). Outside of the United States, call +1 585 442 8170. We are available Monday through Friday between 8:30AM and 6:00PM, United States Eastern.
