SSRN 2019 Year-End Review

Welcome to the end of 2019! We’ve had a busy year here at SSRN. We want to let you know a few things. First, we will be on distribution break for the next 2 weeks. As always, we are here to answer any questions you have about sharing your research (support@SSRN.com or Call 877-SSRNHelp (877 777 6435) in the United States, or +1 212 448 2500 outside of the United States).

A lot of things have changed over the years at SSRN. We joined Elsevier and have a lot more resources to do a lot more things; but your paper’s journey through SSRN remains the same. We remain steadfast to support you the researcher to share your research faster and allow everyone in the world to find your research more easily.

Growth. SSRN now has over 900,000 papers from over 442,000 authors and the number of downloads grows daily.

The lifeblood of SSRN is the research we receive from our research paper series schools. They provide a flow of new ideas. We are very happy to welcome them to the family.

First Look Journals. We’ve added new First Look journals. SSRN partners with journals to provide their research as early as possible. Now, we eight formidable journals as part of the SSRN First Look initiative, Equity in Stem, Surgery for Open Science, and the International Center for the Study of Research have joined the prestigious CellPress and The Lancet partners who joined SSRN early on.

Partners In Publishing. We’ve also added Partners In Publishing. These are other publisher agnostic partners that want to share their research early through the SSRN platform.

Mendeley Data. We started adding data through our partnership with Mendeley Data; another example of the benefits of SSRN’s connection with Elsevier.

Research Networks. One most incredible milestone this year for SSRN is the launch of our fiftieth research network, NursingRN. We’ve grown from 20 research networks in 2017 to over 50 in 2019; sharing research across the spectrum through a number of disciplines.

Data-driven research programs. The Wharton School of Business WRDS | SSRN partnership brought recognition to two prominent schools: National University of Singapore School of Business and the Southampton Business School. Congratulations, researchers!

Building Ongoing Relationships. Our relationships with all of you – our authors and readers, is the recognition we love to hear about. SSRN matters because we matter to you. It has never been more important to us than today. Share your viewpoint.

“This service is indispensable for researchers.”

~Jos-Milner, Reserve Bank of Malawi

The Past. The Future. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to discuss entrepreneurship with the ROCStars. The most critical component for the future is trust. In fact, I did a TedTalk about trust in May 2019. Part of the discussion is the need for trust in these rapidly changing times. I think trust is important across the spectrum within SSRN and in all aspects of our lives.

As SSRN starts our 25th year, we are excited about the plans we have in store for you. We’ll start to use SSRN data more broadly to help researchers solve hard problems. Most importantly, we are grateful to all of you for making the past 24 years SPECTACULAR!

Thank you. Happy Holidays!

Gregg Gordon
