And The Inaugural WRDS-SSRN Innovation Award Goes To…

WRDS-SSRN Press Release image[crop]On behalf of all of us, we are pleased to announce the very first WRDS-SSRN Innovation Award to Sam Houston State University!

On Sunday night, during the ICAM/AACSB conference, I was honored to present the award alongside Harlan Sands, Vice Dean of Finance and Administration of the Wharton School to Mitchell J. Muehsam, Dean of College of Business Administration at Sam Houston State University.

The College of Business Administration is an emerging program that is doing interesting data driven research and well deserving of this award. Mitchell said that “We are confident that in the years to come, we will continue to be innovative, using WRDS to provide impactful research and an engaged educational environment.”

Our collaboration with WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services) is unique, and I haven’t been shy about using the word “groundbreaking” to describe it. We recognize emerging academic institutions, but also give due credit and promotion to the researchers whose valuable work make institutional success possible. Mitchell also said “We take great pride in having WRDS available for our faculty. This valuable resource has enabled our faculty to produce high quality research as well as enhance the education we provide our students.” We look forward to seeing how the award will help them improve their research performance in the years to come.

Congratulations, again, to the College of Business Administration at Sam Houston State University. You are the first to receive the WRDS-SSRN Innovation Award. Two additional awards will be presented later this year at AACSB conferences, expected to be held in Malta and Seoul in October.
