At the beginning of summer, we promised to share updates on our work to improve the SSRN experience. With new resources for design and development, we are reimagining SSRN’s possibilities. First, we implemented our long-awaited full-text search which had been requested by many of you. Now we’re delighted to present our new Home Page. This is just the first of many design improvements we hope to deliver before the end of the year, and we look forward to sharing more about our roadmap over the next few months.
For now, we’re excited to share a cleaner, simpler site design with easier navigation. We hope you like the new look and, more importantly, that it makes it easier for you to find what you need on SSRN.
New Navigation and Sign-inSSRN’s home page offers more intuitive user navigation, including a smart, redesigned sign-in box on the top right-hand side of the navigation bar where you can access your existing subscriptions and your Author profile.
New Author Page (coming soon!)
Soon we will be implementing improvements to the Author page, to showcase your papers on SSRN and allowing readers to follow you. Modifications will continue over the next year as we get more insight into what you, the Author, want from this very important page.
New Search Results
We’re making enhancements to the way we present Search results based on analyzing how people are using Search. We want to make it easier to view a paper’s abstract in the results. We’re also bringing Version Groups across the site so that you can view different versions of a single paper in one place.
Improved Mobile Experience
Increasingly users access SSRN through mobile devices. We’re working on the site so that you view it better on your phones and tablets. We hope you’ll find the new designs easier to use, as we move towards our goal of making the site fully mobile device responsive.
Future
Our redesigned look and feel is just the start of the new SSRN. We have ambitious goals to improve the way you submit and read research, as well as how you connect with other contributors and reach out to the broader research community. These are things we’ve always wanted to do: we are very pleased to have the resources from Elsevier that help make these improvements possible.
We look forward to bringing you some great new features and functionality. We’re thrilled with the new look and feel of SSRN, but rest assured: some things won’t be changing. We remain committed to our mission of free submissions and free downloads, while helping researchers create innovative research faster.
Your feedback is very important to us and will help shape how SSRN evolves. We’d love to hear how you currently use the site, what you think of the new design, and how you’d like us to improve SSRN. Please get in touch at support@ssrn.com.
