The 11th Annual Conference of the European Society was held in Oslo, Norway, from 10-12 September 2015. It was hosted by the PluriCourts Centre for the Study of the Legitimate Roles of the Judiciary in the Global Order of the University of Oslo. The Conference theme was ‘The Judicialization of International Law – A Mixed Blessing?’

ESIL Research Forums are scholarly conferences which promote engagement with research in progress by members of the Society. They target in particular scholars at an early stage of their careers, especially advanced PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

In April of last year, 30 speakers and more than 150 participants convened in the cantonal parliament building of St.Gallen for the 22nd St.Gallen International Competition Law Forum ICF. Among the distinguished guests, there were five presidents of national competition authorities and the ECJ Advocate-General Nils Wahl. Topics included: “Abuse of Dominance in Technology-Enabled Markets”, “China: The Third Leg in Global Antitrust”, “Recent Developments and the Status of the Merger Control Reform”, “20 Years EFTA Court: The Contributions to European Competition Law”, “Changes in the Structure of the Antitrust Bar”, “Public Interest as an Argument in Antitrust and Merger Cases” as well as “Switzerland as a Player in Global Competition Law”.

The preparations for the 23rd St.Gallen ICF, to take place on May 19th and 20th 2016, are in full swing. Among the 35 speakers, there will be again five presidents of national competition authorities, the Director-General of DG Competition (Johannes Laitenberger), EU General Court Judge Marc van der Woude, German Federal Supreme Court Judge Wolfgang Kirchhoff, the general counsel of Daimler, Deutsche Bank and Holcim and many more.
